recycle dress

I used to have this "taylormade"-boring-wool-skirt long time ago. But as long as i can remember, i only wore it twice. Hate the shape,, hate the way the tailor add the darts,,, hate the "sexy-section" on just one side,, hate almost everything about that dress. (see? that's the reason i leard to sew).

So i changed this one :



into that one :









i have no more time to preparing the detail process of me making the dress,,, just showing you what i got. first,,,, i disassemble all the stitch in the skirt,,,, then i place the pattern i already made on the fabric. so chalanging,,, because i had to adjust the pattern so it would fit on the ex- cramped skirt. and dont forget to make sure every lines meet their friends. because its tartan,, you would ruin everyhing if they dont.




I also use the black cotton i used in making mu sister's dress to make this dress"s pleats. because without pleats,,, it wont fit my hips.



after finishing the dress,,, i found out that the dress makes me look round. so i add these details on the waist.

this time,, i made this empire line shirt for my self . i used the same buttons i used when making my sister yellow dress and fabrict i bought to her but she didn't like. i dont know what is it,, but i really dont like it. it's always looked rumpled.

i add double pleats in right and left side each as details and made bell sleeve with the hemisphere. but i had no time to take more picture because i had terible problem with my stomach

making this dress isn't as easy as gesigning it,,,, much harder than i could ever imagine,,, the hardest part isn't making the pattern or sewing it,,, it only takes 2 days,,, but i spent almost 5 days just to do the finishing,,,, if you could see the neck and armhole area,,,, well,, my own design is killing me!!!! i dont wanna use layers in,, because i think it's gonna ruinning all the whole dress. the fabric is something like semitransparant cotton,and if you can see what i want for the waist area,, you would know what i mean. i just didn't know that making this little edging could be so chalanging.

Meet my little sister, Ilma,,,, I design and created this dress on my own,, especially for her,,,

measuring and making the pattern is quite chalanging,,, she's just 11 years old,,, not a little girl,,not yet a woman,, you know what i mean.

the fabric i used is cotton,, in two colors,, red polka( that's why i call this mm dress) her favorite color and black. so comort if only you can touch it. i added 2 box pleats as the detail of this empire line dress and made this black line around the neck,, arm hole and back area wich is the hardest part of making this dress.

hope the design is "age-appropiate" enough for her. what do you think?
